
Armando Solis is in his fourth year as Director of Bands at Prairie View High School where he directs and instructs the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz I, Jazz II, Guitar, the Winter Percussion Ensemble, Thunderhawk Winter Guard and the Thunderhawk Pride Marching Band. Prior to teaching at Prairie View, he taught at Pomona High School and Ryan Elementary School and has served as Woodwind Instructor for Broomfield HS, D’Evelyn HS, and Flathead HS in Montana.
Mr. Solis earned his Master of Music Degree in Music Technology from Southern Utah University and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder where he studied saxophone under Professor Tom Myer and Conducting under Dr. Mathew Roeder and Dr. Matthew Dockendorf. Mr. Solis is an active performer both in-state and abroad performing with numerous ensembles. Most recently having performed at the Mid Europe Wind Band Festival in Schladming, Austria as a member of the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project. He was also previously a member and featured soloist with the Blue Knights Winds (‘18, ‘19), having won second place at WGI World Championships. During his time at CU, Mr. Solis performed with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony, and several saxophone quartets and was a member and mellophone player in the Golden Buffalo Marching Band.
Mr. Solis has worked with a variety of ensembles and instrumentalists having served as a section coach for the Middle School Ensemble program and teaching saxophone players across the Front Range. He is currently a member and Board member of the Thornton Community Band, the Smoke Saxophone Quartet, and member and Director of the Thornton Big Band.
