Concert Band
The Concert Band at Prairie View High School is an intermediate ensemble designed to enrich and expand on student knowledge gained in middle school. Students in this ensemble will work to expand their musicianship, address a wide variety of concert literature and develop advanced skills on their instrument.This ensemble is open to all students 9-12 grade and requires no audition or previous band experience. The ensemble performs 4 concerts a year along with outside performances such as CBA.


Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band at Prairie View High School is an advanced ensemble designed to help students achieve advanced skill sets on their instrument and perform at a higher musical level. Students must audition to be a part of the Symphonic Band. This ensemble performs 4 concerts a year at PVHS as well as performs outside of school at CBA, CHSAA and an annual tour. All students 9-12 are welcomed to audition and should check with Mr. Solis for more information.
Jazz Band
This jazz ensemble is open to all students and any instrumentation and serves as an introduction to jazz techniques, concepts and improvisation. This ensemble performs 4 concerts a year with a performance at Mile High Jazz Festival.


Jazz Ensemble
This is the advanced jazz ensemble designed to help students further develop their musical skills and concepts learned in Jazz Band and challenges students to perform at a higher level both in and out of school. This ensemble is by audition only and performs 4 concerts at PVHS along with an elementary and middle school tour, and festivals such as Mile High Jazz Fest, and the UNC Jazz Festival.
Thunderhawk Pride Marching Band
The Thunderhawk Pride Marching Band is Prairie View’s very own competitive marching band. This ensemble competes statewide with marching bands across Colorado, and marches in various parades such as the Brighton Parade of Lights and the Blossom Festival Parade. The TPMB is made up of Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion and Colorguard and open to all students 8-12 grade both here at PVHS and at the surrounding middle and high schools. This ensemble rehearses throughout the summer and competes in the fall and performs at all home football games.


Winter Percussion Ensemble
The PVHS Winter Percussion ensemble competes throughout the winter and spring seasons of RMPA (Rocky Mountain Percussion Association). The ensemble is open to all students in the district from grade 8-12 (with some exceptions) regardless of previous experience. The ensemble provides another opportunity for students to perform while focusing on the development of percussion skills and fundamentals. The percussion ensemble rehearses outside of the school day and competitions are regularly held on Saturdays
Winter Guard
The PVHS Winter Guard competes throughout the winter and spring seasons of RMCGA (Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association). The ensemble is open to all students in the district from grade 8-12 (with some exceptions) regardless of previous experience. The ensemble provides another avenue for students to perform while focusing on the development of dance techniques and fundamentals as well as teaching flag, saber and rifle. The Winter Guard rehearses outside of the school day and competitions are regularly held on Saturdays.
